EA Has Issues

It's nice to see EA do something nice for a change, like join the fight against DOMA. But I'm wondering if they only did this to try and look good. After all, they were recently named Worst Company in America. And they don't seem to want to give up on doing stupid shit, like going after Valve for their Steam sales. In a recent article posted on Cinemablend, Valve is apparently defending its habitual use of sales on Steam. EA (and other companies who aren't fond of Steam sales) seem to see this as a loss of profits. Which it isn't. They may not be getting full price for their games, but what they don't seem to want to acknowledge is that they are still getting some money from the game. Not everyone wants to buy games strait off the bat, especially people who look into companies and know EA, Capcom, etc. are habitually pumping out rushed, broken games. I, for example, want to get Battlefield 3. But I'm not about to go buy it for $60 when I know it'll support EA's Online Pass. So that is a unit that will sit unsold. Now, BF3 goes on sale for cheap enough that I can overlook the online pass, and I buy it. That's another unit sold, some money made (preferable to no money made) and maybe I go to the dark side and start ignoring the Online Pass issue for the rest of forever (yeah, right). So, clearly, sales are better for profits, rather than worse.
